You can dispose asset items that are in the active or depreciated state.
Disposing an asset will also dispose all of its asset items that are in the accepted or depreciated state. If you don't want to dispose all the asset items, you must first move those items to another asset.
See About General Ledger Transactions for information on the transactions created when you dispose an asset.
Select Asset Management from the Purchasing & Payables / Capital Assets menu. The Asset Management window opens.
Check the box for the asset you want to dispose, and select Dispose Asset from the More menu. The Dispose Asset popup opens.
Select the Disposal Method. Note: Disposal methods are designated in Capital Assets Configuration.
Enter the Disposal Date if different from today's date. Note: This date doesn't have to be in an open period so you can enter the real disposal date. This date is recorded with the asset items, on the history tab, and is used on reports.
Enter the Transaction Date if different from today's date. Note: This date must be within an open period of the current Capital Assets cycle as it's used for the disposal transaction.
Optional. Enter a Comment.
Click OK. The asset is disposed along with all its asset items.
