Verify that the Depreciation Frequency value in Capital Assets Configuration is set to the desired frequency.
See About General Ledger Transactions for information on the transactions created when you run depreciation.
Select Asset Management from the Purchasing & Payables / Capital Assets menu. The Asset Management window opens.
Select Run Depreciation from the More menu, and the Run Depreciation popup opens. This window lists the depreciation periods based on the depreciation frequency selected in Capital Assets Configuration.
Enter the Transaction Date, and click OK.
If there aren't any new assets subject to depreciation, the depreciation is run.
If there are Capital type assets with the Straight Line depreciation method that are in the New state, an exception window will open. You'll see a list of new items that won't be depreciated and will be asked if you want to continue.
Select one of two options.
Click No, then Cancel the Run Depreciation window. Accept the new items, and start the process with step 2 again.
Click Yes if you want to skip depreciation for the new items.
Repeat the Run Depreciation process for as many periods as indicated to complete depreciation for the accounting cycle.
