Select Element Value Maintenance from the Chart of Accounts menu, and the Element Value Maintenance window opens.
Select the account Structure from the pull-down list if it hasn't defaulted to the structure in which you want to work.
Select the Element to which you want to add values. The element value mask is displayed once the element is selected. Sample window
Click Add, and the Element Details window opens.
Complete these fields for all element values.
Element Value: Enter the number of characters indicated by the mask.
Description: Optional. Enter a brief description of the element value. Note: The description may also be added after saving the element value.
Complete the following fields for element values for controlling elements.
Account Type: Select from the pull-down
list. Note:
You can use the Set
Account Type command to complete this field for a group of
element values that haven't yet been used in transactions.
Note: The list will include
all account types if the element to which this value is being
added is the controlling element for all account formats. When
the element is the controlling element only
for:
Expenditure accounts: It will include only Expenditure and Other Financing Uses.
Revenue accounts: It will include only Revenue and Other Financing Sources.
Balance Sheet accounts: It will include only Asset, Liability, and Fund Balance/Retained Earnings.
Balancing Accounts: Optional. Select from the multi-select list. The options in this field depend on the account type selected, and you may select as many items as needed. Click here for more information.
Complete the following fields for element values for fund elements.
Fund Classification: Select from the pull-down list. The list includes the following classifications: general, special revenue, capital projects, debt service, agency/fiduciary, general fixed asset, general long term debt, enterprise, internal service, non-expendable trust, expendable trust, and pension trust. Note: You can use the Set Fund Classification command to complete this field for a group of element values that haven't yet been used in transactions.
Expenditure Elements: Optional.
Revenue Elements: Optional.
Balance Sheet Elements: Optional.
Click Save or Save and Add.
Repeat steps 3-8 until you've completed adding element values.
