Override Element Value Description

Account code descriptions are based on the controlling element value's description plus the descriptions for any additional element values designated when you entered account formats.

For any elements that aren't controlling elements you can override the element value descriptions for all account types. These added descriptions are then displayed in the element value hierarchy when aggregating general ledger accounts of a particular type.

  1. Select Element Value Maintenance from the Chart of Accounts menu, and the Element Value Maintenance window opens.

  2. Select the account Structure from the pull-down list if it hasn't defaulted to the structure in which you want to work.

  3. Select the Element whose element value you want to edit, and the existing element values are displayed.

  4. Check the box for the element value for which you want to override descriptions, and select Override Element Value Description from the More menu. The Override Element Value Description window opens.

  5. Enter an element value description for each account type as desired.

  6. Click OK.
