Use the Void Transactions feature when you need to either delete or edit a posted transaction.
This process does the following:
Creates a new journal entry with the same properties as the old journal entry, except the debits and credits are switched.
Automatically posts the void transaction.
The Comment field shows Void, followed by the original transaction number and a reference to the action that created the original posting.
If you need to edit a transaction, once the original transaction has been reversed, create a new transaction with the corrected information.
This feature can be accessed both from the Transaction Journal grid and the Edit Journal Entry popup.
Select Transaction Journal from the General Ledger menu, and that window opens.
Check the box(es) for the posted transaction(s) you want to void, and select Void Transaction(s) from the More menu. You're asked to confirm the action.
Click Yes. The Result window opens displaying successes and failures.
Click Close when you're done reviewing the transactions.
