Using a security template allows you to add a whole group of permissions to the user with a single action.
If the user will have most permissions in a template, you can apply the template and then subtract permissions.
But if the user will only have a few permissions, it will probably be faster to use the Current Permissions tab to add the permissions.
When new permissions are added to a security template, they are automatically added to users associated with the template.
Note: See the topics in Security Templates Overview for descriptions of the individual tasks included in the system templates and for instructions on creating new templates.
If applying a template while creating a new user account, skip to step 3.
Select Security, then Manage Users, from the Administration menu.
While in the Manage Users window, check the box for the user account you want to edit, and click the Edit button, or click the Last Name link. The User Detail window opens.
Click on the Available Security Templates tab.
You may want to sort, search, and/or filter the templates to make is easier to find the template(s) you want to apply.
When you've found some templates, you may want to view and compare their permissions to help you decide which template to assign to the user. Note: The Available Security Templates tab indicates whether or not a template is a system template.
Check the box(es) for the template(s) you want to apply to this user, and click Assign Security Template(s). You're asked to confirm the action.
Click Yes to apply the template(s). You're notified that the action was successful. You'll also see an indicator that the template was assigned, the number of permissions in the template, and the number of permissions assigned to the user. Example
