Once you've designated the salary schedule name and added grades to it, you're ready to add steps to the grades.
There are two ways to add the proposed pay to each step — by using a proposed multiplier or a proposed amount. You'll use the same method for all steps within all grades for a salary schedule.
When you add steps to a grade, AptaFund automatically creates the same steps for every existing grade in the salary schedule to ensure that every grade has the same set of steps.
If you add a grade to a salary schedule after you've added steps to the first grade, AptaFund automatically creates the steps for the new grade to ensure that every grade has the same set of steps.
Select the salary schedule name from the Schedule pull-down list below the top grid.
Select a Grade from the pull-down list.
Click the Add button on the Grades grid (the lower grid), and the Add Salary Step window opens. Note: This command is different from the Add command in the pull-down list.
Enter a short ID like 1 or A for this Step. The step name will be used for this step in all grades of the salary schedule. You may edit this field at any time, and changing the name of a step also changes the name of the same step for every grade within the schedule.
In the Proposed Multiplier field, enter the number by which the system should multiply the base pay to calculate the proposed pay for this step. The field accepts a number greater than or equal to 0.00 and up to eight decimal places. It does not accept negative numbers. Note: Since the proposed pay for the first step of the first grade is often the proposed pay for the salary schedule, you may leave this field blank for the first step.
Leave the Proposed Amount field blank. If you enter a number here, the proposed multiplier you just entered will be deleted.
Click Save. Note: AptaFund will calculate the Multiplier and Pay fields when the Apply Salary Schedules procedure is run.
Repeat steps 3 - 7 until you've finished adding steps to this grade.
Repeat steps 2 - 8 to add steps to the remaining grades. Remember: All grades for this salary schedule are required to have the same number of steps.
If you've added steps out of order, use the Move Step Up and Move Step Down buttons to re-order the sequence in which the steps will be listed in the salary schedule.
When finished adding steps to the salary schedule, you're ready to apply the salary schedules. Click here for instructions.
