You can define as many salary schedules as you need.
Creating the schedule begins with designating the schedule name and the proposed base pay, then defining grades and the associated steps.
All grades are required to have the same amount of steps. This requirement means that once the first grade is defined with seven steps, all subsequent grades must contain seven steps.
Rounding method: When proposed base pay for a salary schedule — or proposed amount or multiplier for a step — is changed, the selected rounding method is used to recalculate the proposed pay.
Select Human Resources Configuration from the Human Resources or Administration menu. The window opens with the General tab displayed.
Click on the Salary Schedules tab. Note: The Current Accounting Cycle shows the accounting cycle that the salary schedule will be tied to. If this is not the correct accounting cycle, select a different one.
Click the Add button, and the Add Salary Schedule window opens.
Complete the fields as described. Required fields are marked with a red asterisk.
Schedule Name: Enter a name that will be meaningful to users who need to select the correct schedule for employee jobs in Manage Employees. Consider using terms such as Salaried, Hourly, Daily, Certified, Classified, etc This field can be edited at any time.
Description: Enter a brief description that will appear on reports and can be edited at anytime.
Proposed Base Pay: Enter an amount to be used as the base salary from which all other proposed salaries within this schedule are computed. Note: This field may be edited at any time. When it's changed, the proposed pay for all steps is immediately recalculated.
Proposed Rounding Criteria: Select from Round down to the last dollar, Round to the nearest cent, Round to the nearest dollar, Round up to the next dollar. Note: This field may be edited at any time. When it's changed, the proposed pay for all steps is immediately recalculated.
Click Save to return to the Configuration window. The new schedule has an Inactive status, and the grid at the bottom is ready for you to add grades to the schedule.
Select the new salary schedule name is displayed in the Schedule pull-down list below the top grid.
Click the down arrow beside the to display the commands for Grade, and select Add. The Add Salary Schedule Grade window opens.
Enter a Grade Name, such as BA or BA+10, and click Save. Note: You may edit this field at any time.
Repeat steps 1 & 2 until you've entered all the grades for this salary schedule.
If you've added grades out of the order you want, use the Move Grade Up and Move Grade Down commands on the menu to re-order the sequence in which the grades will be listed in the salary schedule.
