The Element Value Hierarchy tree contains a graphical representation of the parent-child relationships between element values for a particular element. It displays the hierarchy for the currently selected element in the element list.
The root entries of the tree will depend on the type of element selected.
When a controlling element is selected, the root entries in the hierarchy will be the pre-defined account types.
When the fund element is selected, the root entries in the hierarchy will be the pre-defined fund classifications.
When a standard element is selected, the hierarchy will contain a single root entry named after the element. There are no restrictions on placement of a standard element’s values in the hierarchy.
This hierarchy determines how accounts roll up in the General Ledger window and how accounts can be pooled in Budget Management.
Note: Element values that have been assigned to budget pools can't be moved in the tree. If you want to move these elements, you must first remove them from the budget pool. To determine where an element value is used in a budget, run the Budget Pool Element Values Report.
